CHONGWE Member of Parliament Sylvia T. Masebo, also Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, inaugurated the upgraded Lusumpuko Primary School (formerly Muyembe Primary School) in Muyembe Village, Katoba Ward.
The K1.3 million project, funded by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), includes a 1×3 classroom block (K749,561.09), a modern ablution block (K385,188), and a solar-powered water system (K195,000), aimed at enhancing learning conditions for over 280 pupils—a surge from 82 enrollees in 2024.
Masebo highlighted that the school is among 50 infrastructure projects launched across Chongwe Constituency’s 21 wards, fueled by President Hakainde Hichilema’s increase of annual CDF allocations from K1.6 million to K36.1 million per constituency. “This reflects our government’s commitment to uplifting all Zambians, especially rural communities,” she stated.
Headman Muneta praised the government and Masebo for prioritizing education in remote areas, emphasizing the school’s role in bridging development gaps. The upgrades address critical needs, providing desks, sanitation, and clean water to foster a safer, more conducive educational environment.
The commissioning underscores the government’s intensified rural development agenda, ensuring equitable access to resources nationwide.
