Chibolya man takes thief to police but gets arrested as well
A CHIBOLYA man in Lusaka has indirectly implicated himself while trying to get justice for his stolen phone.
A 27 year old Luckson Mazuba found himself in hot Joe Mbuzi soup after he took a suspect to the police on allegations that a 20 year old had stolen his iPhone 6 valued at K1,800.
However, the music changed and the table turned immediately, after the suspect, Misheck Mweemba started spilling the beans when he refused stealing the phone and revealed that the reporter was in possession of a firearm illegally.
“During the course of interviews conducted early this morning, the suspect denied involvement in the alleged theft but instead disclosed that the complainant, Luckson Mazuba, was in possession of an illegal firearm,” Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga revealed.
“Acting on this information, police apprehended the complainant who later led officers to a garbage dump site within Chibolya Compound where a Revolver Pistol was recovered.”
He added that the firearm had no serial number, suspecting that it had been erased, with no rounds of ammunition.
“[It] appeared to be in poor working condition,” highlighted Hamoonga.
According to Hamoonga, the two suspects have been detained and still in police custody for further investigations, while a docket was opened.
Hamoonga reiterated the police’s commitment to ensuring that all individuals found in possession of illegal firearms are brought to book.
